Shooting update: Suspect in custody after two Alabama police officers injured in shooting at apartment complex

The suspect in the shooting of a Tuscaloosa police officer is now in custody. Tuscaloosa Police confirmed the man surrendered after a massive manhunt.

Two police officers were injured in a shooting at an apartment complex Monday afternoon.

Tuscaloosa Police Department spokeswoman Stephanie Taylor has reported to local news sources that the officers were injured at the Links at Tuscaloosa Apartments sometime around 4 p.m.

One officer was taken to DCH with a non-life-threatening injury while another officer was transported for a less serious injury. The officer with the non-life-threatening injury was reportedly shot in the bulletproof vest he was wearing.

Multiple law enforcement agencies are searching for the shooter in areas surrounding the apartment complex.
