A boater near a South Alabama state park discovered the remains of a deceased adult floating in the water Saturday morning.

The body, which was found in waters just south of Spanish Fort’s Meaher State Park, has been sent to a state lab in Mobile for analysis, Baldwin Country Sherriff Huey Mack told Al.com.

Only a body was found at the scene. No boat wreckage or any other clues that might provide and details in the discovery were found.

Mack said the body appeared to have been in the water for some time and because of the level of decomposition, investigators are awaiting confirmation on details including the body’s gender and race. The results from the lab will also help determine if foul play was involved or not.

Mack said investigators did an immediate search of the area but found no clues to the identity of the body. Mack said his office is reviewing any missing person reports they have on file and asked the public to report if they know of anybody missing in the area.
