Walker County officials continue searching for a young woman who has been missing for a week.

As of Monday, the Walker County Sheriff’s Office has been actively searching for Summer Buzbee, 23.

“Over the Christmas Holiday, our Investigative Division diligently followed up on the few leads we had, and began the process of requesting phone, social media, and banking records,” officials from the Walker County Sheriff’s Office posted on Facebook.  “We hope these records will help us put together the timeline that should assist us finding her.”

The following is what Walker County officials say they know about the case:

“Summer went to work in Jasper on December 17th. She clocked out at 10:37 am to check on a relative who was hurt in an accident and admitted to the hospital.

At some point that day, it appears that she lost her phone. The phone was later found near her place of employment and turned in to administration.

Summer used a friend’s phone to text a couple of people that she knew. That phone’s owner has been identified, and is cooperative.

She never visited her relative at the hospital, because he was already discharged before she got off work.

She messaged her father mid-day about the family member’s accident. He replied, but she never responded to the his reply.
She was seen walking in West Jasper at around 1:00 pm on the 17th.

She then went to her residence in Saragossa, and that’s where she was last seen. The exact time she was last seen is not nailed down by witnesses.

On December 20th, a relative spoke with her at a local convenience store about 8 pm. She left in an unknown direction, and unknown method of travel.

She was reported missing the following morning.

At this point, the Sheriff’s Office still has no evidence of foul play being involved. The passing of an important holiday, and now a total of one week has gone by since her last sighting. This has us even more concerned.

We’re still waiting for the records requested to come in, and a couple of new leads have developed where additional record requests are being made.

Anyone who has any information on Summer or her disappearance is encouraged to call in and tell us.

Lots of manhours and resources are being utilized in this search. We STRONGLY hope the people who have provided us information are being sincere, and not trying to conceal some reason for Summer’s disappearance.

Our primary goal in this investigation is to bring Summer back safely to her family and friends. Please help us do that if you can!”
