An Alabama has been charged with murder after he reportedly killed his girlfriend on Christmas Eve and tried to burn her remains.

Ace Antonio Pierre Belcher, 32, was charged with murder and abuse of a corpse in the death of Traci Melvin Wilemon, 50.

According to Etowah County officials Belcher called 911 Thursday evening to report that he found Wilemon unresponsive on the floor of their residence on 10th Street in Altoona.

Altoona police arrived and found Wilemon dead at the scene. The Etowah County Sheriff’s Office was called to investigate the death because of unusual circumstances found at the scene.

Belcher reportedly confessed that he had an argument with Wilemon that turned physical and that led to her death. Investigators report that Belcher tried to burn her remains.

Belcher was taken into custody Friday morning. He is jailed at the Etowah County Detention Center on a $500,000 bond.
