A south Alabama woman is accused of violently kicking her son multiple times before sending him off to school.

WTVY news in Dothan reported the arrest of Chiquita Nicole Hunter of Dothan, 25, who was charged with aggravated child abuse after local school officials became suspicious of the injuries suffered by the boy.

Police investigators conducted several interviews after being contacted by school faculty. Officials believe Hunter kicked her child in the upper torso several times while trying to discipline the juvenile on the morning of Oct. 23. The boy was hurt to the extent of needing to be transported to Children’s Hospital in Birmingham for treatment, according to court documents.
