North Alabama officers are looking for an “armed and extremely dangerous” suspect in an early Tuesday morning murder.

Madison Police Chief David Jernigan told local news sources that his officers are looking for Jonathan Taylor Stephens, a 39-year-old white male, 6’2” in height, 205 pounds in weight, with brown hair and brown eyes. Stephens may be driving a 2016 Black Chevrolet Silverado truck with Alabama license tag 9514AT5.

Shortly after 1 a.m., Madison police officers were notified by the Huntsville Police Department about a deceased male victim located on the side of Slaughter Road near a railroad crossing near the Huntsville city limits.

An arrest warrant for Stephens charging him with murder along with a search warrant for a separate residence in Madison was also obtained.

Jernigan said Stephens’ whereabouts are unknown at this time and he is a fugitive and should be considered armed and extremely dangerous.

If the public is aware of Stephens’ whereabouts the Madison Police Department is requesting you take no action yourself but to contact local law enforcement to report this information.
