Remnants of Tropical Storm Beta may bring the possibility of a few strong to severe storms between noon and 7 p.m. Thurday. The risk of severe weather is limited but could include a tornado or damaging wind gusts.
Beta is already producing steady rain over the northwest portions of the state. Rain will gradually move eastward over the state Wednesday night with some thunderstorms in the early morning hours.
The highest rain totals will be in the northwest part of the state, in places like Jasper and Hamilton. Forecasts suggest some areas will see more than 3 inches of rain. ‘
The risk for storms will increase Thursday afternoon, as temperatures rise into the upper 70s and low 80s. The greatest risk will be in areas in central and southern portions of the state.
Expect a few isolated afternoon pop-up showers and storms on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Plan on warmer/muggy days, with a mix of clouds and sunshine. Highs will be in the 80s, with a 30% chance of a pop-up shower or storm in the afternoon.
