Authorities have identified a driver who was found fatally shot on an Alabama interstate.

On Friday, Birmingham police identified the victim as 28-year-old Deondray Montrell Reese, AL.Com reported.

Police responded to Interstate 59/20 around 6 p.m. Thursday and found Reese’s SUV in the middle lane on the northbound side.

Sgt. Rod Mauldin said multiple rounds had been fired into the SUV. Police didn’t specify whether Reese was the shooter’s target.

Investigators believe the shooting was captured by a passing truck’s dashcam video. Mauldin said information on the shooting was limited. He said anyone with information should contact the police.

“This is a well-traveled interstate and we know someone saw something,” Mauldin said. “Please come forward.”

The incident was the second time Reese was shot while driving. Last year, he was shot and wounded by two suspects, police said.

It’s unclear whether the shootings were connected.
