An inmate is back in custody just hours after escaping from a South Alabama work center Wednesday morning.

According to the Alabama Department of Corrections, 57-year-old Clifton Debales Lang was reported missing from the Loxley Community Based Facility/Community Work Center at approximately 5:10 a.m. Wednesday from the facility in Loxley. The news of his recapture was reported shortly after 10 a.m.

Lang has a long history of convictions with the Alabama Department of Corrections. He was sentenced to 20 years for first-degree robbery and two consecutive five-year sentences for second degree receiving stolen property in Mobile County in 1983.

He was convicted in 1988 on second-degree escape charges in Escambia County where he received an additional 16-year sentence. He was then sentenced to 15 years in Mobile County on third-degree burglary charges.

In 2006, he was sentenced to 99 years, 99 months and 99 days for two counts, first degree attempted burglary; two counts, third-degree burglary, and one count possession of a controlled substance and one count unlawful breaking and entering of a vehicle.

In 2018, he was convicted and sentenced to 15 years (concurrent) for two counts of breaking and entering of a vehicle
