A third person has been arrested in the killing of a college economics professor who was found shot to death in his home in Alabama, authorities said.

Anthony Womack Jr., 23, was charged with murder in the November slaying of Matthew Wiser, who taught at the University of South Alabama, according to a statement by Mobile police. Two other men were arrested in Wiser’s slaying in December.

Authorities said the 39-year-old Wiser was shot to death during what appears to have been a home invasion in November.

Police found his body after being contacted by concerned colleagues.

Womack, who was arrested Tuesday, also was charged with marijuana possession in an unrelated case, police said. Court documents weren’t available Tuesday to show whether he had a lawyer.
