The Pelham Police Department detectives are obtaining a felony warrant for interference with custody against 24-year-old Rodrigo Ortega, who is the suspect in the disappearance of Pelham 13-year-old Amberly Flores.
“He will be brought back to Shelby County to face charges as soon as possible,” PPD said in a post to Facebook.
Flores, who went missing on Tuesday, Jan. 21, in Pelham around 7 a.m. was found safely in Huntsville during the afternoon of Thursday, Jan. 23, after a collaborative effort between the Pelham Police Department and several other law enforcement agencies.
She has since been checked out at a hospital in the area and is “doing okay,” according to the PPD.
“Once she has been reunited with her family, we will meet with her to learn more about what happened over the last couple of days,” PPD said in the post.
