Reports: Two confirmed dead after overnight severe weather, including both parents of injured boy

Law enforcement officers confirmed Tuesday an Alabama husband and wife were killed Monday night and their 7-year-old son critically injured after severe weather destroyed their north Alabama residence.
The deaths occurred in Lawrence County off County Road 265 near Town Creek. Area media reported that several people were injured and approximately a dozen residences were damaged.
Local media outlets identified the victims as Justin Chase Godsey and his wife Kiesha Lean Cross Godsey.
Their son was reportedly in critical condition in a Birmingham hospital. Several others were also injured.
The destruction was part of a wide swath of damaged a weather system caused across the South Monday afternoon and evening.
The death toll continues to rise as damage reports are finalized.
