An Alabama man critically injured in an explosion last week has died.

Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service tells Al.com that 53-year-old Larry Bush died Friday.

Bush succumbed to injuries from a blast Tuesday in Birmingham’s East Lake neighborhood, which also claimed the life of 49-year-old Boris Reynolds.

Witnesses told fire investigators that Reynolds and Bush were working with oxygen tanks right before the explosion. Reynolds died before he could be taken to a hospital. Officials ruled the blast an accident. An investigation into the explosion continues.

The force of the blast also damaged the carport of an adjacent home. There were people in the house at the time of the explosion, but they were not harmed.
